An indiscriminate gill net is not a tool that conservationists want to expand in Michigan waterways.

Help us keep gillnets out of our Great Lakes!

The Coalition to Protect Michigan Resouces comprises four A-share voting members, including Michigan United Conservation Clubs, The Michigan Salmon and Steelhead Fishers Association, The Michigan Charter Boat Association and the Hammond Bay Anglers, and support B-share members. CPMR depends on public donations to keep gillnets from Michigan's Great Lakes.

Many member organizations of the Coalition to Protect Michigan Resources (CPMR) have served as an “amicus curiae” in all of the Tribal fishing rights cases beginning with the 1985 Consent Agreement, the 2000 Consent Decree and the 2007 Inland Consent Decree. This coalition along with our attorneys have years of experience dealing with Tribal issues and believe me that experience will be needed in preparation for the upcoming negotiations and during the negotiations.

Not only will our efforts benefit the sport fishing public but also business owners and the hard working men and women that work for those businesses that make our boats, motors, fishing tackle and accessories along with those people who sell us those products and those that sell us our gasoline, food and lodging.

We would like to ask all anglers and sport fishing associations that fish the Great Lakes and their tributaries to donate to CPMR. If you own or work in a business as described above, you will benefit from our efforts so we ask for your donations as well.

CPMR is a 501c3 organization and your donation may be tax deductible.
